I developed an appreciation for computers and basically technology in general because I learned certain things and it just goes to shop how important computers are and how much easier they make things. Some of the qualities I seen for example, my mentor is basically a workaholic he is the only tech guy in the buildings and he is always the first person there and usually the last person to leave. I was able to develop a stronger understanding of my goal in life and what I am going to have to do to achieve my goals. It can help me push forward because I now know exactly what I would like to do after school. There wasnt much communication because where I was the office was completely quiet.

I was able to contribute to my workplace by working on multiple employees computers and also rebuilding them. Interning was helpful to my education because I was surrounded by people that do what I want do do when I get older and I was given advice on how to get there and what is required to get there. I actually had multiple projects for example: I booted and wiped computers, I imaged computers, I took out and replaced the power supplies, memory chips, and hard drives and I also put together an office for an employee that starts february 1st. Throughout internship I learned that I actually do like working on and messing with computers and I thought that was something I disliked the most.
I think one thing that teachers can do is have work for students that is interactive and not boring and a subject that students can actually be engaged in for a long period of time because last semester there were multiple times where we were working on something and I either didn't finish or didn't apply full effort because I just was not fully engaged into the work that I was doing.
I am able to fully operate a computer and I now have a little more motivation in school because I have seen where I really want to be in life when I get older and the things that have to be done. My first week at internship has been much better than any week I have ever had at school except for immersion week. I have already learned a lot and I actually didn't think that I was a computer type guy I actually find IT pretty interesting. Another reason I like My Internship is because of the fact that the people there are so willing to help. Usually at a publicly traited company a intern would not be able even see the CEO or CFO or SVP but we have had the opportunity to sit on 2 meetings with all of them and the CEO even asked us at the end of Internship to tell him what is something that we think is wrong with the business and how can he fix it. I think internship will help because I do plan on working in the major business field. It can also help me with my work ethic
I have had a good time at my internship so far. On the second week we have started doing a lot of our mini projects , First we had to learn all of the basics that come with IT and how it is used in the business. Our first project was transferring someones files from a laptop to a PC and it was a pretty easy process with the help of our mentor rick because the way that he explains things makes it 10 times easier. We also learned how to replace the hard drives and the memory chips on the computer.
I mainly work in the accounting building and inside there are cubical like offices and a kitchen in the back. The only thing that I don't like about this office is the fact that it is so quiet that you can here every footstep even with carpet, so basically me and Danny cant make any type of noise or laugh at all but the cool thing is that if we do, they don't really mind. I also work in the Main building when I am scanning or copying and on the Inside of that building there are many different styles of work spaces and it is a little more noisier than the accounting office.
At my internship my first Friday was easy going and laid back. I started of my day filing and renaming COI's on the computer and then I went over to the main building and scanned over some site files to the accounting department. I like my internship so far because the people here are all nice and laid back. Even though there are a lot of workaholics here they still seem to always be in good moods. We also get to actually learn the real business, on the second day the vice president showed us what all the abbreviations mean and how many shopping centers they bought last year and other information like that.
For the first two days it hasn't been that busy, yesterday we learned all of the basic of the office and things like that but today we did a little more work. We started opening and checking all of the invoice files and scanning MLR's and we learned a lot from the vice president of the company I like it so far because we actually get to meet and work with the people who actually run the business and they are very willing to give information.
The things that I am most excited about is the fact that I have the opportunity to get out of school for a month and get a sample of what the real world is like. I am also pretty excited about where I am interning because I will get to learn about business and learn how to do tech for a big business.
The things that I am most nervous about is doing something wrong or not having a good time, but I dont think that will happen because I picked something I am interested in. |
