Perspective Project
This semester we learned a lot about perspective and how that can have an affect on society. Almost every single assignment that we did had something to do with perspective whether it was listening to serial, reading In Cold Blood, or learning about stereotypes and lenses.
Stereotypes and Lenses
There is group of lenses that we used throughout the semester whether it was reading books or writing things. In our books this semester we did close readings using these lenses. When we were reading we had color-coated sticky notes and there was a color for every lense and when we came across something we stopped and wrote i on a sticky note with the lense that it goes with

Serial podcast, season 1
when we started this semester within the first week or two we also started the Serial Podcast. Serial was a story about a girl ( Hae Min Lee ) in Maryland who, one day after school came up missing and there was a big search for her until eventually, her body was discovered in a place called Leakin Park. Following those events the police automatically assumed that her X-boyfriend Adnan Syed was the killer, so they arrested him and he is currently still serving his time in prison. |
Writing Process
Blackout Poetry In the blackout poetry we first started off by reading a Langston Hughes and while reading it we would stop and discuss what we thought certain things in the poem meant and how do they compare to things in society now days. We also analyzed it by writing what we thought every line meant. We were then given the task of writing a poem of our own, but with the words that are already in Hughes poem and not words of our own, which is blackout poetry. |
In Cold Blood Essay
For the In Cold Blood Essay we did a close reading through the entire book, and the whole time we were reading, if we read something that we thought was significant or could be read through through one of the certain lenses. Before we finished the book we started to draft our essays and we also picked which lense we wanted to write our essays from.
During the drafting process we had a series of peer critiques to better our essays, and with the peer critiques we were able to revise the parts of the essays that needed to be improved. We also submitted them to turnitin.com to check for plaigarism.

Imaginative Non-Fiction
For this project we had to get with a partner. When we got our partners we were given a sheet with questions on it about childhood, their views on society, and what their family was like. We took notes on the interview, and with those notes we either made a short story, poem, lyrics, or a spoken word based off of what was said in the interviews with our partners.
In my writing I used a lot of Anaphora and I also tried to through a lot of Imagery in my spoken word poems so that people can get a better vision of what I was writing about and the views that my partner had on those topics.
My nuggets connection to my Kinetic art piece is from my poem about Racism
My nuggets connection to my Mural piece is a Chinese symbol that means family which is from one of my poems

Perspective Project Reflection
In my opinion I thought that the perspective project was cool. I liked it because we learned a lot about views, stereotypes, and the lenses that the world is seen through. The main reason that I liked it is because I was able to discover my views on things that I never really put much thought into. Throughout this whole project we had multiple ways to display our creative sides and let the creative sides of our minds work. The only things about this project is the fact that I thought a lot of things in this project were rushed and we should have took more time on the project than we did
